Frequently asked questions

We strive to make securing affordable, dignified independent housing straightforward and transparent. Review common questions about our interest list, third-party submissions, timelines, and fees.

Who can join the waitlist?

Our interest list is open to adults looking for future housing opportunities with Humanity Group Homes. You do not need to be a veteran, currently receiving benefits, or already have a referral to sign up. Potential residents may include veterans, seniors, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), individuals aging out of foster care, adults returning from incarceration, those seeking recovery-supportive housing, or anyone seeking affordable private or shared accommodations.

Is there any fee or deposit to join?

No. Joining the Humanity Group Homes housing interest and waitlist is completely free. There are no application fees, waitlist charges, deposits, or preliminary screening fees required to submit your information and join the list.

Can a case manager or family member submit a request?

Yes. Case managers, social workers, family members, veterans' representatives, service coordinators, guardians, and other authorized advocates may submit a waitlist request on behalf of an applicant. We only ask for enough basic details to understand their housing needs and find the right fit.

What information should representatives provide?

When submitting on behalf of a resident, please share the resident's name and contact information, the representative's details and relationship/agency, preferred room type, desired move-in timeframe, general housing support needs, and approximate monthly income or expected funding source (such as SSI/SSDI, VA benefits, employment, or vouchers).

What happens after I submit my information?

Once submitted, our team reviews your housing needs and room preferences. We aim to reach out within 1–2 business days to confirm your details, answer any questions, and discuss current or upcoming housing options.

What happens when a room becomes available?

When a suitable room opens up, we reconnect with you or your authorized representative to confirm you are still seeking housing. We will then discuss formal eligibility, room rates, deposit details, required documentation, and move-in timelines.
